MATCHING HEARTS/SIMILAR PARTS EP + FREE TRACK + UNDERAGE FEST COMP

Hello world,
So for the last couple of months we’ve been recording our next EP – Matching Hearts/Similar Parts. We recorded two new tracks - ‘I Don’t Not Love You’, which will be the lead track off the EP and for which we have done a video – which is up on our myspace NOW – let us know your thoughts, we had to spend a whole day…yeh WHOLE day in Walthamstow getting slapped around by a rather beautiful Latino honey…oh what a world. We’re really happy with it, Sam Crack and Marcus Sharp shot and directed it – they are extremely lovely and talented and will go on to the rule TV no doubts…

The other track is ‘Racing Race’, which is more of an epic number – in at just under 7 minutes! We chose to record this track as a kind of window to a different side to us that most wont really know yet…being that we are such a giving band we’ve decided to give this out for free…Just send us your email on the front page and we’ll drop it off in your inbox…NICE

The other tracks we recorded, well re-recorded are ‘Bells At Midnight’ and ‘St.George’ - now the last time we re-recorded a track..ahem..Locarno..there was a mixed reaction. Fair nuff! Well we’ve done it again to test our faithful followers. We felt the need to do this to make sure the EP had flow and also to show how we’re moving on as a band – we want to update our tracks accordingly. We also wanted to draw a line under all our old demos and move on – we’ve written loads more tracks and now want to get on with recording them….Done. EP out 13th July…cop that on vinyl and download – download will come with a remix from the mighty Lagos Boys Choir (sounding sickkk!) and the video. Alotta bang for your buck..

Also – we’re playing Underage festival, we’re running a competition with them to give away 2 pairs of tickets. By leaving us your email you’ll be entered into the comp, and we’ll announce the winner beginning of July.

After that we did a little practicing, brushing up on some old songs and writing some new ones. Saw Tom Beard and Metronomy, which is always nice. Here are some shots of us our rehearsing:

This seems to happen a lot when we play near windows…

It may have something to do with God and stuff but we’re not entirely sure…

Our car got smahsed into by some goons at Camden Crawl, they got away with a pedal bag and a snare. Good for them, although not a very good haul to be honest.. Everything is replaced and new now.

Autoglass said this was the latest in window technology, just in from Taiwan. We are not convinced..

We played Levis on Thursday, free clothes again, and then drove down to Gatwick that night. We slept in the car for all of about 2 hours and got up at 4 to catch a flight to Amsterdam.

We arrived in Amsterdam to find it had been the Queens birthday the night before so we were the only ones awake at 8 in the morning, the streets were covered in rubbish and smelt like piss from heavy partying the night before. Paradiso turned out to be an amazing night, not just because of the obvious attractions of Amsterdam (transvestite hookers of course) but also because the venue was an old church…..

You can watch our set from Paradiso here:

The Joy Formidable and The Noisettes played very good live sets and we hope you enjoyed our set just as much. We went about the town finally gettting to sleep at about 3. We woke up at 8, to get a taxi back to Schipol.

We landed at Gatwick and were straight back in the car up to Leeds. However we got stuck in some major traffick jam and had some fun on the M25.

Olly Wrong: “FINE…” (see below for eventual outcome)

Then went to go and watch a film, we had some time on our hands, X-Men Wolverine, highly underated i think the verdict was.

Here is the lovely lass who sold us popcorn and American Hard Gums at extortionate prices. Damn Odeon price discrimination!

The Birmingham show was all very good, met some nice people and created one hell of a raw sound, apologies to those at the front. After that it was on our way home. Here are some random photos from along the way:

Studio Time

So - our new EP is recorded and to be delivered to the media world next week - we are all real excited by this..The tracks were recorded with Luke Smith - who has just come back from a cave in Santa Barbara recording for Depeche Modes Number 1 album…he was there for 6months, he was very pale..but a number 1 album was recorded, maybe it means something, shame we didnt record an album….

An EP was all we could muster…ahemmm afford this time round! We’ve been working on about another 8 new tracks that we’re equally excited and proud of.

The tracks we decided to cram into this Ep are - 1. I DONT NOT LOVE YOU 2. BELLS AT MIDNIGHT 3. St GEORGE 4. RACING RACE - so, yeh we went and recorded Bells at midnight and st george again! i hear a general sigh…do not worry we learnt a valuable lesson from re-recording Locarno, not that we’re not happy with it, but it was a learning curve…so, fear not because these new recordings are great and have really added to the rawness of our sound and we hope captured us more as a band..Also, this EP will now draw a line under all the ‘older’ tracks - so we can get on with releasing brand new ones from now on…

How exciting…The EP is called - ‘MATCHING HEARTS, SIMILAR PARTS’ out end of June….let us know your thoughts - we’ll have it up on the myspace pretty soon…come see us live..so all of it…all at once…

Shooting the VIDEO for I DON’T NOT LOVE YOU

So, the video for our next single ‘I DONT NOT LOVE YOU’ - has been shot, recorded and edited..how exciting. It was filmed in just one day in Walthamstow…Alot of love and respect to Marcus Sharp and Sam Crack - they directed the whole thing and came up with the concept, ideas and artistic love. We also used a very beautiful Spanish girl, Penelope Cruz watch ya back…

The concept of the track is well…love…being completely infatuated with someone and not having the courage to admit your love for them, finding it hard to get the words and the tense feelings surrounding that..its kind of a story in that by the end the character (me..you..whoever) gains the strength to admit their love…simple tale of love..there we go.
Below are a few stills from the vid to wet your appetites..it should be up on myspace and a TV channel near you in the next couple of weeks..I (sam - lead singer) get slapped in it…whoever can see any blemishes or cuts, gets a free t-shirt..

see that anger…slap hurt…

The Fly In The Courtyard Session…

Is up now! We performed Bells At Midnight, Cold Reading and Rough Crossing -

Check them out y’all!
