Tour News & Brand New Remix

Hello all,

Currently on the road with Dananananackroyd. Thanks to all who have come to watch us play, 4 dates left and then we hit the road again on our own headline tour.

Please do let us know if any of you are coming along to any of the dates, show us around your town, buy us a drink or even help us out by getting all your mates along, getting them on our mailing list. Free Flashguns merch and ticket for the show will be coming your way if achieved. Email us at for more info.

Don’t like being too London centric. However, we have a very important London show coming up. Actually it’s our biggest headline show in the city, which is great, but you know, we need to make it special. That is where you come in. I’m sure we could rock out onstage on our own, but really without a crowd baying for our souls … then what really would the point of live music be. WE NEED YOU TO BUY TICKETS AND COME WATCH US PLAY. Think i spelt that out clearly enough.
We are playing:

The Lexington on the 23rd March. Support comes from Pushing Hands and Lucy Rose. Plus a very important person DJ set coming from BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB…Yup…going to be BIG.

But you know, i know with this economic downturn, things aren’t as fruitful as they were a few years ago for most Flashguns being the nice (poor..) band that we are, we are willing to incentivise this process with a competition.

The first 4 people to name the title of our debut album and email us at with the title and a name for yourself and you’re plus 1 gets in for FREE. Also, the first 10 people to pre-order tickets (here) and send us proof via email ( gets a free vinyl of our last single ‘Come and See The Lights’.

How does that sound…?

For all others tickets go HERE and HERE.

Also, a great new producer called Hugh Worskett has given ‘Passions of A Different Kind’ a really nice remix….listen, download and spread here!

Video For Our New Single ‘Passions Of A Different Kind’

Hello all

Got a fair few new email addresses on here during our tour with Funeral Party. Thanks for signing up, enjoy the ride through our darkest dreams. Introduce yourselves, make new friends. Thanks to all that came out to see us, speak to us, buy from us, shout at us, drink and laugh with us during our tour - we had a great time. Great to go back to certain cities like Norwich, Brighton, Nottingham and Bristol, beginning to feel like home away from home. Also, for all the ramshackle street team crews who showed up on the night, thank you so so much - your work was amazingly generous.

So, moving on, because that’s what we do. 10 days stop gaps and we’re back on the road, back with something new. Work hard, play hard - a moto I hate, but one that aptly describes our current situation. We are back on the road supporting Danananackroyd, which will be fun..i think! We’re slightly scared, as seeing them live is scary let alone touring with them for 7 nights in tiny little venues across our fair land … they have 2 drummers!!? wtf … going to be interesting.

Dates are as follows:

February 2011:

Fri 25th - Middlesbrough - Uncle Alberts

Sat 26th - Dundee - Doghouse

Sun 27th - Aberdeen - Cafe Drummond

March 2011:

Tue 1st - Cambridge - Haymakers

Wed 2nd - Southhampton - Joiners

Thurs 3rd - Bath - Moles

Fri 4th - Sheffield - The Harley

Sat 5th - Liverpool - Shipping Forecast

More importantly than this though is our own headline tour in March. It’s our second headline tour to date and we’re heading out to towns we’ve never even been to, let alone played. We need abit of help i think! Anyone who lives or works or has been to any of the towns below, get intouch here and lets extend our ramshackle street team a little further. There’s drinks and merch in it for you! We’ll be back in touch with further competitions to win tickets for our london show on the 23rd March at the Lexington.

One final, but most important aspect to this mail out is our video to our next single ‘Passions of a Different Kind’. it’s our second only video. We shot it with two old friends, JP and Tom in Exmoor where we recorded the album. It has meaning, lurking somewhere…we’re happy with it. Let us know your thoughts. Spread it…tell your friends and family..

Lets see you all on tour.

Hear The New Single Now

Hello one and all..

So, I’m writing this on a boat to Ireland to play our first ever shows in the country - couldn’t be more excited. We’ll be playing Dublin and Belfast, anyone coming along?? Any Irish fans on this? Guess not if we haven’t actually been to play the country yet. Either way, any one who has visited either towns and got some good drinking/eating venues to check out let us know.

So we’re a little less than half way through our tour with Funeral Party and so far so good. Aberdeen, Bristol were highlights, big up to our two helpers on the day who worked their asses off to get more emails onto this very special list … hope the t-shirt and drinks were worth it for you! It’s been amazing meeting so many of you who have come to see us play. All I can say is you have all been incredibly nice and helped us in these dark, lonely, confined times on tour…Soldiering on!

So, new news. A track from out debut album is available to download for a limited time only, NME covered it here. Cop that if you can. Some of you might know this track from our old EP, thought we’d give it another push as we keep getting such a good response to its 7minute epicness .. more of these to come.

ALSO - BIGGER THINGS >>> We have our next single ‘Passions of A Different Kind’ available to listen to here. You have first dibs on this before anyone else in the world. So, make yourself feel special, have a listen and let us know your thoughts. That would be very very kind (only if they are nice mind)/

The single will be out late March on Friends Vs Records via itunes (standard) and on vinyl on the 28th March. So keep checking back for that. We have also been shooting the video for it with our two good friends JP and Nick in Exmoor where we recorded the album. It features big dogs, some meat and us. I’ll leavethe rest to your imagination. A few exclusive photos fs said dogs are below.
We have also shot a very nice acoustic video which will be coming at you pretty soon.

In other news we have a fair few dates left on our tour with Funeral Party. Come say hello. There’s still time!

Stay tuned … we are getting there.

Racing Race Free Download

Racing Race Free Download

Hi everyone,

So, a track of ours called ‘Racing Race’ is up on the NME site as its Daily Download. Some of you will know this track from our last EP ‘Matching Hearts, Similar Parts’, others please feel free to check it out and download for free … the track should give you a taster for album.

Also, We have started to play the track live, so anyone who has heard the track and feels a strong emotional attachment to it then come watch us to get the full experience..

Talking of shows - we’re on tour with Funeral Party at the moment, just played a great show in Bristol. We have 1 pair of tickets to giveaway still for our shows in Newcastle and Glasgow. Any takers!? In exchange for the ongoing freeness we’d like you to help us sell some merch, collect some names for our mailing list .. Free T-shirt in there for you also. Email for more info.

Also, one last thing, Our next single ‘Passions of A Different Kind’, which happens to share the name of our debut album, will be up on a private Soundcloud played early next week for you all to hear before anyone else does. Check back for details.

NIce one and hope to see you on the road.

Have yourselves a very merry Christmas

Hello all,

Last mail of the year now. Christmas is here! X Factor is over … all is at peace now. Want to say a big thanks to everyone who has helped support us at the end of this year. It took us along time to finish recording our debut album, in fact it took us about 5 months longer than we anticipated! (thats what happens when you choose to do things independently I suppose!). We were worried that we were loosing fans we’d made and general awareness after touring so heavily. However, since releasing ‘Come and See the Lights’ we have been incredibly happy and relieved to feel such a positive reaction from you guys .. many many thanks!

To fill you in on our plan moving forward, ‘Come and See the Lights’ is but the tip of the iceberg. We have 2 more singles to release next year. The second will be called ‘Passion of A Different Kind’ in March time, whilst the 3rd will be a track called ‘No Point Hanging Around’ in June. This is the song we play first in our new live set (lots of people keep asking what it’s called, which is a good sign i think!) and then we will release our debut album ‘Passions of A Different Kind’ in June …. so, still a while to go but never fear, we will be touring, touring and maybe a little bit more touring.

We’d love to play one off acoustic, maybe even electric shows for anyone, anywhere who would like abit of an intimate time with us 3 … we don’t bite, ask the guys down in Exeter! If you’d be interested in having us just drop us a mai on and we’ll talk details.
Until then, we can announce that we will be touring with Funeral Party in Jan/Feb next year - heading to Ireland for the first time - whooop! Ther dates:

Bristol Fleece (25)

Oxford O2 Academy 2 (26)

Manchester Academy 3 (27)

Glasgow King Tut’s (28)

Aberdeen Tunnels (29)

Belfast Stiff Kitten (31)

Dublin O2 Academy 2 (1)

Newcastle Cluny (3)

Leeds Cockpit (4)

Nottingham Bodega (5)

Norwich Arts Centre (6)

Birmingham O2 Academy 3 (8)

London Cargo (10)

Brighton Audio (12)

We also, have a one last acoustic video of the year that we shot in Germany. This time it’s a cover of ‘The Weight’ by ‘The Band. Click below to check it out.

Our shop is open and fully working - had a few hiccups at the start but is now fully operational. Buy yourself a nice Flashguns treat for Christmas - you deserve it!

Have yourselves a very merry Christmas..

P.S. Here’s a version of Come and See the Lights we did in the back of the van waiting to play the last date of the tour in Preston, excuse the weary eyes and fingers….

lying on my bed listening to Pharell Frontin’ it with jay z. (shut up freekin spotify ads!!!)

a bit of light relief from general apocalyptic turmoil in my livelyhood these days>

1)Trying to get in touch with anybody at UCL philosophy department to tell them that i won’t be there for the first two weeks because i’m doing the Bombay Bicycle Club tour!
2)Going on the Bombay tour in our sleeper van, getting intimate with the rest of flashguns, surviving on a shoe string and some lint out of my jeans pocket, not having a shower, getting deeper than a navy seal!! GEneral shiiiaaat!

3) FYI, anybody used to Flashguns as a 4 piece will have a little surprise, our keyboard player oliver james wright has amiably parted from flashguns to find out what he wants to do over the next few years, Clever kid! We love that boy and who knows whether he will be rocking stages around the world with us in the future.

changes have been made and now we are ready to hit the live scene harder than ever and let’s face facts….. THREE PIECE LOOKS COOL AS HELL!!!!
We have new t shirts which are looking supa fly, get your hands on!! We got EP cd’s to sell, get your hands on!!! we have our supple young bodies to sell, get your hands on!!

we are flashguns and we’re going to get inside your heads !!!!!!!!!

tell your friends tell your parents tell yourselves this is the future.

you’ll be hearing from me sooon

We have been very busy over the past week or so. Went on tour with Jamie T for a while which was all superb. Thank you to everybody who came along I hope you enjoyed those free t-shirts and vinyl and of course the set and Jamie. Here are some videos and a few photos of what we got up to!

Before our first gig with Jamie, we thought a little pre-gig rehearsal was in need::::

On our way up to the next gig in Leeds we had a little trouble on the motorway, with two weak bladdered boys.:::::

<object width=”480″ height=”295″><param name=”movie” value=”×3a3a3a&color2=0×999999″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”×3a3a3a&color2=0×999999″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”480″ height=”295″></embed></object>

We also now do a bit of endorsing, here’s the latest commercial for DOVETM.

This was our van/bus/house/barge that we’ve been traveling in over the past weeks.

Some rehearsal action in Cambridge, before the gig, we felt that van did’nt have the right acoustics.

Even more rehearsal action. EATING MIC!

Brand spanking old kick drum with a little twist, looks ok, sounds awful.

In gig action taken by Olly Wright, he photographs himself on a regular basis mid-set.

Moody shot. Pre-Cricket team talk.

POOR Technique for SOME.

Bassists trying to play guitars….never works out!!

Playing B–BALL with Jamie T, and some of the PACEMAKERS.

PS2 in the VAN. Some very tense matches taking place, often ending in bloodshed.

Our sound man—–WILL.IAM

In the worlds LARGEST condom.

We were offered a free trip to the zoo at BeachBreakLive met some new friends/groupies.

Then we saw some crazy stuff like this.

and this……

Our E.P is coming out very soon, make sure you have pre-ordered it. We are also playing with Jamie T again in London very soon, so get your tickets for that, if you can. Keep checking back for more gigs and things like that.
