FLASHGUNS - A NEW BEGINNING

HELLO!

lying on my bed listening to Pharell Frontin’ it with jay z. (shut up freekin spotify ads!!!)

a bit of light relief from general apocalyptic turmoil in my livelyhood these days>

1)Trying to get in touch with anybody at UCL philosophy department to tell them that i won’t be there for the first two weeks because i’m doing the Bombay Bicycle Club tour!
@
2)Going on the Bombay tour in our sleeper van, getting intimate with the rest of flashguns, surviving on a shoe string and some lint out of my jeans pocket, not having a shower, getting deeper than a navy seal!! GEneral shiiiaaat!

3) FYI, anybody used to Flashguns as a 4 piece will have a little surprise, our keyboard player oliver james wright has amiably parted from flashguns to find out what he wants to do over the next few years, Clever kid! We love that boy and who knows whether he will be rocking stages around the world with us in the future.

changes have been made and now we are ready to hit the live scene harder than ever and let’s face facts….. THREE PIECE LOOKS COOL AS HELL!!!!
hirts
We have new t shirts which are looking supa fly, get your hands on!! We got EP cd’s to sell, get your hands on!!! we have our supple young bodies to sell, get your hands on!!

we are flashguns and we’re going to get inside your heads !!!!!!!!!

tell your friends tell your parents tell yourselves this is the future.

you’ll be hearing from me sooon

BAND IN VAN - JAMIE T TOUR - BEACH

Hello,

We have been very busy over the past week or so. Went on tour with Jamie T for a while which was all superb. Thank you to everybody who came along I hope you enjoyed those free t-shirts and vinyl and of course the set and Jamie. Here are some videos and a few photos of what we got up to!

Before our first gig with Jamie, we thought a little pre-gig rehearsal was in need::::

FLASHGUNS - RACING RACE

On our way up to the next gig in Leeds we had a little trouble on the motorway, with two weak bladdered boys.:::::

We also now do a bit of endorsing, here’s the latest commercial for DOVETM.

This was our van/bus/house/barge that we’ve been traveling in over the past weeks.

Some rehearsal action in Cambridge, before the gig, we felt that van did’nt have the right acoustics.

IMG_7373

Even more rehearsal action. EATING MIC!

IMG_7380

Brand spanking old kick drum with a little twist, looks ok, sounds awful.

In gig action taken by Olly Wright, he photographs himself on a regular basis mid-set.

Moody shot. Pre-Cricket team talk.

4$ a day, freeboks, rehearsing, gear stolen, amsterdam, leeds, birmingham….

Hello Hello,

Flashguns have had a very busy week. Free clothes always a good thing but shoes is even better. Here’s a picture of our choice of Sneaker!

FREEBOKS!!! BUOFF!
IMG_6510

After that we did a little practicing, brushing up on some old songs and writing some new ones. Saw Tom Beard and Metronomy, which is always nice. Here are some shots of us our rehearsing:

MID SONG FELLATIoooooh yeah!!!

During rehearsal we mostly just do posing…

Like this…

IMG_6468

This seems to happen a lot when we play near windows…

It may have something to do with God and stuff but we’re not entirely sure…
IMG_6477

Our car got smahsed into by some goons at Camden Crawl, they got away with a pedal bag and a snare. Good for them, although not a very good haul to be honest.. Everything is replaced and new now.

Autoglass said this was the latest in window technology, just in from Taiwan. We are not convinced..

We played Levis on Thursday, free clothes again, and then drove down to Gatwick that night. We slept in the car for all of about 2 hours and got up at 4 to catch a flight to Amsterdam.

We arrived in Amsterdam to find it had been the Queens birthday the night before so we were the only ones awake at 8 in the morning, the streets were covered in rubbish and smelt like piss from heavy partying the night before. Paradiso turned out to be an amazing night, not just because of the obvious attractions of Amsterdam (transvestite hookers of course) but also because the venue was an old church…..

You can watch our set from Paradiso here:

The Joy Formidable and The Noisettes played very good live sets and we hope you enjoyed our set just as much. We went about the town finally gettting to sleep at about 3. We woke up at 8, to get a taxi back to Schipol.

We landed at Gatwick and were straight back in the car up to Leeds. However we got stuck in some major traffick jam and had some fun on the M25.

Samuel: “My amp is not going on the roof!!”

Olly Wrong: “FINE…” (see below for eventual outcome)

Got to Leeds late played a different show. Met some very nice fans who kindly offered to model our XS Flashguns T-shirts…

Leeds Finest!

Left Leeds at 12 at night and drove down to Birmingham where we got to our hotel at 2 in the morning all very bleary eyed.

Woke up in Birmingham at 2 in the afternoon feeling decadent, went out and got some pizza at Pizza ExpressTM:

Read some Magazines:

Then went to go and watch a film, we had some time on our hands, X-Men Wolverine, highly underated i think the verdict was.

Here is the lovely lass who sold us popcorn and American Hard Gums at extortionate prices. Damn Odeon price discrimination!
IMG_6704

The Birmingham show was all very good, met some nice people and created one hell of a raw sound, apologies to those at the front. After that it was on our way home. Here are some random photos from along the way:

Studio Time

So - our new EP is recorded and to be delivered to the media world next week - we are all real excited by this..The tracks were recorded with Luke Smith - who has just come back from a cave in Santa Barbara recording for Depeche Modes Number 1 album…he was there for 6months, he was very pale..but a number 1 album was recorded, maybe it means something, shame we didnt record an album….

An EP was all we could muster…ahemmm afford this time round! We’ve been working on about another 8 new tracks that we’re equally excited and proud of.

The tracks we decided to cram into this Ep are - 1. I DONT NOT LOVE YOU 2. BELLS AT MIDNIGHT 3. St GEORGE 4. RACING RACE - so, yeh we went and recorded Bells at midnight and st george again! i hear a general sigh…do not worry we learnt a valuable lesson from re-recording Locarno, not that we’re not happy with it, but it was a learning curve…so, fear not because these new recordings are great and have really added to the rawness of our sound and we hope captured us more as a band..Also, this EP will now draw a line under all the ‘older’ tracks - so we can get on with releasing brand new ones from now on…

How exciting…The EP is called - ‘MATCHING HEARTS, SIMILAR PARTS’ out end of June….let us know your thoughts - we’ll have it up on the myspace pretty soon…come see us live..so all of it…all at once…
